Food Service Worker

PART-TIME:
This is a part-time position (20 hours/week).
The salary listed represents full-time employment and will be pro-rated based on the actual number of hours worked each pay-period.
Likewise, benefits and time-off accrual will also be prorated and based on your part-time work schedule.
The Food Service Worker serves within Nutrition and Food Service (N&FS) Department at the VA Montana Healthcare System, Community Living Center (CLC) Caf Service, located in Miles City, MT.
The food service worker performs duties that require a wide knowledge of basic hospital diets, hospital food service operations, including food and nourishment preparation, and tray assembly.
The Food Service Worker will perform, but may not be limited to the following duties:
o Sets up cafeteria lines, steam-tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butte, and beverages; o Places specified items on trays or offers Community Living Center (CLC) Residents food items as listed on patient tray tickets and menus.
o Reviews the accuracy of trays and identifies and corrects discrepancies based on the use of the regular and modified diet menus and the tray ticket prior to loading the trays into delivery cart.
o Pushes tray delivery carts to distribute and collect trays from the bedside and records information about tray delivery, pick-up, and non- delivery.
o Prints and processes information from the computer related to diet orders, tray tickets, food tallies, supplemental feedings, tube-feedings, and other computerized data.
o Uses computers as it relates to food service and utilizes simple arithmetic skills.
o Assembles and distributes ready to serve nourishments such as canned commercial formulas, pre-portioned milk and juices, individual packages of cheese and crackers, and individual containers of ice cream to fill supplemental feedings and tube-feeding orders.
o Decides what food items to serve the most common diet or offer CLC Residents when the tray ticket identifies only kind of diet called for such as liquid or low sodium.
o Identifies discrepancies between the prescribed diet and/or food allergies and the food items listed on the tray ticket.
Work Schedule:
Sunday-Saturday 5:
30am - 6:
30pm varied shifts.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
