This is a developmental position with a full performance level of GS-11. At the GS-5 and GS-7 levels, the incumbent performs work as a trainee under the guidance and supervision of a supervisor or higher graded fishery biologist. At the GS-05 through GS-09 levels, the incumbent will perform the duties at a reduced level of responsibility and/or difficulty while receiving on-the-job and other appropriate training to prepare him/her for promotion to the next higher grade level. The employee may be promoted when the supervisor has determined that he/she has completed the necessary training, demonstrated the ability to perform at the higher grade level, and has met time in grade, length of experience, and all other requirements for promotion. Major duties at this level include but are not limited to: Performing complex biological studies and producing reports on fish habitat requirements; coordinating and consulting with local Tribal, State, special interest groups and other federal agencies regarding the protection and conservation of aquatic and fish habitats; monitoring on-going aquatic habitat development projects; developing data input for interdisciplinary reports, environmental assessments and protective stipulations for Special Status Species aquatic life; and assisting with the development, implementation and maintenance of resource management plans.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Work is performed in the office and field locations under a variety of topographic and climatic conditions and may occasionally require some physical exertion such as walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces in terrain and stream beds and exposure to extreme temperatures. The field duties of this position require that the employee operate four-wheel drive vehicles on and off roads in isolated areas.

A. Degree: major in biological science that included: At least 6 semester hours in aquatic subjects such as limnology, ichthyology, fishery biology, aquatic botany, aquatic fauna, oceanography, fish culture, or related courses in the field of fishery biology; and at least 12 semester hours in the animal sciences in such subjects as general zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, entomology, parasitology, ecology, cellular biology, genetics, or research in these fields. (Excess course work in aquatic subjects may be used to meet this requirement when appropriate.) OR B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), of which a minimum of 6 semester hours were in aquatic subjects and 12 semester hours were in the animal sciences, as shown in A above , plus appropriate experience or additional education.
For GS-05: Completion of the basic education requirements qualifies for the GS-05 grade level.
For GS-07: In addition to meeting the basic entry requirement, applicants must have appropriate experience or additional education. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade. Specialized Experience for the GS-7 Fishery Biologist : One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-05 in the federal service. Specialized experience at this level is defined as experience assisting higher graded fishery biologists by conducting fish presence/absence surveys, conducting monitoring of fish habitat parameters, collecting stream temperature data, and summarizing data; OR 1 year of graduate education (18 semester hours) in fishery biology or a directly related biological science field with an emphasis in aquatic subjects, or you meet the requirements for Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.). Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
